THE SOCIAL NATURE
Humans are social creatures. Some people may claim not to be a “people-person” but after all, we all rely on human interaction to a certain level. There are seasons in which we are more social, as in during the holidays. Parties and celebrations start populating our calendars, and we find ourselves spending more time among friends and family.
Modern-day society revolves around food and drinks. Unfortunately, the healthy options are not so standard. Cake, cookies, sodas, and fatty goods gain ground quite quickly. Skipping social events sounds like a way to keep the right food choices on a check, but it comes at the high price of getting distance from our loved ones.
FOMO
FEAR OF MISSING OUT creeps up on us rapidly and explains some aspects of our behavior and choices. Some people start watching TV shows even when they may not sound appealing enough to them, to be able to carry on with the conversation at the office or on get-togethers.
Food is not much different from TV shows, who would like to be the unconventional who doesn’t eat at the party?
BRINGING YOUR OWN PARTY
Planning is the key. It is not uncommon to bring a dish to social events. Possibly, you are not the only one on the quest for a healthy option to eat, although you may be the only one bringing the healthy dish. As with many other things in life, originality pays off. Steamed vegetables are an option as healthy as boring. It is valuable to think of alternative ideas and out of the box. It is not a bad idea to consider some people’s restrictions whenever choosing a plate to bring. The most common allergies in the USA are peanuts and seafood. Also, some people are vegetarians. Picking a vegetarian dish without nuts is almost a guaranteed winner.
BECOME THE FITNESS HERO
For some reason, get-togethers have some classic characters. The seven dwarfs are unmissable. We all know the wise advice from Doc, as well as Grumpy, talking about the economy or politics, Happy telling his vacation stories, Sleepy joining the party after a long day at work, Bashful quietly sitting in the corner, Sneezy finding people walking away from him, and Dopey in his own world. A character we don’t see often is the “fitness hero,” the one who brings a healthy and tasty dish to help those who care about their health. With the best intentions of helping you fulfilling that position, FP Training will be sharing a new “FEATURED RECIPE” twice a week for you to be able to stay on track as well as helping others along the way during the holidays.
