AFFECTING THE BODY POSTURE
There are few things more appealing than somebody with a proper posture. Somehow, an individual with good body-posture stands out from the crowd. The reason is simple, they are not common to see. A great number of people have postural problems, commonly due to remaining in the same position for extended periods or due to an imbalanced resistance training program, causing for some muscles to overstretch, while others tighten and lose flexibility.
COMMON INJURIES IN SPORTS
We all have heard about knee injuries are among runners or shoulder injuries among power-lifters or swimmers. Any repetitive motion increases the risk of injuries. It’s called “overuse” and has something to do with muscular balance.
MUSCULAR IMBALANCE DUE TO OVERUSING
In the body, every single joint can move in at least two opposite directions. The elbow (for example) allows the forearm to move forward or backward, while the shoulder can perform a much wider range of motions.

Antagonist muscles are those that work at the opposite ends of the same joint. The tricep extends the elbow while the biceps flexes it. The balanced proportion of the tension between two antagonist muscles brings the joint to a neutral position while at rest. People that inadvertently prioritizes one muscle over its antagonist end up shifting the joint to a non-neutral position, causing discomfort, pain, and even injuries in some cases.
TRAINING BALANCED
There is no doubt that most people prefer to train one particular muscle over others, just like it happens with foods, tv shows, etc.
The problem starts whenever people start skipping that particular muscle’s training; that muscle will start overpowering its antagonist, causing the issues we already discussed.
It’s crucial to commit to working out in a balanced way, enjoying training the muscles we love, and enduring the process of training those we don’t love so much.
Some people may not be aware of what motion counteracts which other, for which it is never a bad idea to utilize a qualified personal trainer’s services to design the correct routine.
